Yay! I am finally back to the weight I was before leaving out of town for one week! I gained 8 lbs during that trip and it took a little over a week to lose all 8 of them! Ugh! But, I am happy now so I wanted to share my news with you guys! Now it is time to lose even more weight. Only 17 lbs away from goal!
I love this Sweet Italian Turkey Sausage from Jennie-O, but you should only eat this in moderation because of the sodium content. You should have less than 2300 mg of sodium a day and the two sausages itself provide 1300 mg of sodium. It is still within the plan guidelines though, but make sure you drink lots of water! You are allowed 1 1/2 of these sausages as a serving size. Yum! I sometimes eat this with spaghetti squash with a little bit of marinara sauce, but this time I made steamed cabbage. The recipe is below. These would be great with the pizza bread. Kind of like a hot dog! I can't wait to try that!

You can cook these babies on the stove top, grill or broil them. I chose to broil them in the oven for 14 to 16 minutes. Turned out nice and juicy. Make sure your meat thermometer reaches 165 degrees.
I found this recipe at All Recipes but it is actually called Fabulous Fried Cabbage. Not sure why it is called that since it isn't really fried at all so I changed the name. Can I do that? LOL Anyways, this is a nice way to get your greens in for the next couple of days because 1 head of cabbage is a lota cabbage! I got 3 complete green servings and a 1/2 cup extra! I froze one of the servings because I didin't want cabbage for three days but rather save some for another time. I guess I will find out if they freeze well. You definitely need to season it with your favorite spices to give it some flavor although the chicken broth helps a lot. I used the standard seasoning of salt, pepper and garlic powder. If I wasn't having Italian Sausage with this cabbage, I would probably like to add some soy sauce and make a stir fry with this cabbage. Yummy! Enjoy!
Slightly adapted by Cook It Up Axel from All Recipes
1 1/2 cups low sodium chicken broth (1 1/2 Condiments)
1 medium head cabbage, cored and coarsely chopped
1/4 tsp Salt (1 Condiment)
1/4 tsp Pepper (1/2 Condiment)
1/4 tsp Garlic Powder (1 Condiment)
Bring chicken broth to a boil in a medium sized pot. Reduce heat to low and add the cabbage. Cover and cook over low heat to steam the cabbage for about 45 minutes, stirring frequently, or until cabbage is tender and sweet. Season with salt, pepper and garlic powder. (I drained it and saved the chicken broth in a bowl so I could weigh the cabbage cooked. I didn't want the chicken broth to affect the weight. Then I just divided the broth amongst the three servings.)
*Note If you need to add a healthy fat to your meal, you can add 1 tbsp light butter which is 1 healthy fat.
1 1/2 cups or 225 grams of this cabbage is all your Greens for the day. I got 5 cups cooked so I had 3 complete greens and 1/2 cup left over.
3 Servings with 1 Complete Green and 1.33 Condiments per serving
