Strawberry Shortcake

As my mother-in-law stated, "This cake is to die for"! I agree with her completely. I think the cream cheese gives this cake a wonderful flavor. I don't think I would change a thing about this recipe. It tastes sooo good and it is so easy to make. I have made this often and it remains to be one of my favorite desserts to make when company comes by.

Strawberry Shortcake

1 pound cake mix
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
1 quart fresh strawberries, sliced
1 (18 ounce) jar strawberry glaze

Prepare pound cake according to instructions on the back of the box. Let cool completely.
In a bowl, combine strawberries and glaze until strawberries are evenly coated. Spread over pound cake.
In a medium bowl, cream cream cheese and sugar until light and fluffy. Fold in whipped topping. Spread the cream cheese mixture over strawberries. Garnish with fresh strawberries if desired. Chill until serving.
